Dr. Tensing Maa

Tensing Maa MD, is the Medical Director of the Simulation Program and Nationwide Children’s Hospital. She is board certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Critical Care Medicine and serves as Associate Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at the Ohio State University College of Medicine. Her areas of interests include simulation-based medical education, resuscitation, patient safety, and health equity.

Dr. Gayathri Chelvakumar, MD, MPH

Gayathri (Gaya) Chelvakumar, MD, MPH, is an attending physician in the section of Adolescent Medicine at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and an assistant professor of clinical pediatrics at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. Her clinical interests include adolescent reproductive health and working with underserved adolescent populations. She provides care to transgender and gender diverse youth as Co-Medical Director of the THRIVE Gender Development Program, which she helped develop. She also established and operates a medical clinic at a local drop in center for homeless youth.

William Nickley

William Nickley (he/him) is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Design at The Ohio State University. He researches social design practice as a member of the Ohio State DESIS Lab and teaches courses in the industrial design major. His research lies at the intersection of social design, design methods, and community-engaged design.

Dr. Lauren McIroy

Dr. Lauren McInroy is an Assistant Professor in the College of Social Work at The Ohio State University. Her multidisciplinary research program utilizes internet-enabled information and communication technologies (ICTs) to foster improved outcomes and increase well-being for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, asexual, and other sexual and/or gender minority (LGBTQIA+) adolescents and emerging adults. Dr. McInroy’s work also focuses on enhancing the successful application of ICTs in social work research, education, and practice through the development of innovative digital methodologies and effective digital pedagogies.

Travis Scheadler

Travis Scheadler (he/him/his) is a PhD student in the College of Social Work at The Ohio State University. He has master degrees in Sport & Exercise Psychology and Social Work. His research interests relate to creating inclusive spaces for LGBTQ+ individuals, sport as a platform for social justice, and advocacy for LGBTQ+ rights and racial justice. He plans to complete his PhD in 2025.

“A medical practitioner, health care institution, or health care payer has the freedom to decline to perform, participate in, or pay for any health care service which violates the practitioner’s, institution’s, or payer’s conscience as informed by the moral, ethical, or religious beliefs or principles held by the practitioner, institution, or payer.” Law signed on July 1, 2021 and made effective on September 30, 2021.
